James Costello


James is president of Costello Communications, design agency to some of the most respected businesses and organizations in the country. He has focused his career on developing effective communications for clients in the fields of business and finance, urban planning and environmental stewardship, health care, law and the arts.

Prior to founding Costello Communications, James held senior creative positions with three Chicago-based firms including, Burson-Marsteller Worldwide, Cagney & McDowell, and Goodwin Communications, managing the creative process with such clients as Proctor & Gamble, Lands’ End, The Nuveen Company, Motorola, and the Quaker Oats Company.

His work has been recognized and published by numerous national design organizations including Communication Arts, The NY Art Directors Club, American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA), The American Association of Museums, STEP Inside Design, American Corporate Identity, Print Regional Design, Mead Corporation, and the Strathmore Gallery.

James has served on the Board of Directors of the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA), and remains an active member. He is an occasional featured speaker and juror for organizations in the communications design profession.
